MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -- A wheelchair-bound man named as a person of interest in an arson case that critically injured an infant has surrendered to police.

Jevon Hughes arrived at the Midwest City Police Department Tuesday night with his mother. Police said Hughes is suffering from several medical issues.

Hughes was named last month as a person of interest in an arson at his ex-girlfriend's house in Midwest City. A five-month-old boy was badly burned. Police said Hughes did not set the fire, but may have known something about it. They have not identified the man who broke into the house and started the fire.

Police also named Hughes as a suspect in the kidnapping of his ex-girlfriend's roommate. A few days before the fire, police said Hughes kidnapped the woman at gunpoint and forced her to drive around, looking for Hughes' ex-girlfriend. The woman managed to get help at a Midwest City Wal-Mart store. Police issued an arrest warrant for Hughes on complaints of kidnapping and threatening with a weapon.

Hughes has invoked his right to an attorney and is not talking to police.
