MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -- A judge has issued an arrest warrant for a wheelchair-bound man accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend's roommate and threatening her with a gun.

Midwest City Police said 22-year-old Jevon Hughes went to Shunta Henderson's house around 2 a.m. Nov. 17. Henderson lived at the house with Hughes ex-girlfriend and both women's children. She said Hughes demanded to know where his ex-girlfriend was. Henderson told police although she knew the woman was at her new boyfriend's house, she told Hughes her roommate was at her mother's house. Henderson said that's when Hughes pulled out a gun, and threatened Henderson's children if she didn't help Hughes find his ex-girlfriend. Henderson said she was afraid because she'd heard Hughes was abusive and a drug dealer.

According to an affidavit, Hughes forced Henderson and the children to get into a vehicle. He made her drive around for several hours and search for his ex-girlfriend. When Henderson told Hughes she didn't want to drive around anymore, she said he slapped her and threatened her with a gun. He then told her to drive to the Wal-Mart in Midwest City because he wanted Henderson to make a copy of her house key and give it to them. When Henderson went into Wal-Mart, she called police.

Officers interviewed Hughes but did not arrest him for kidnapping at the time because they were still trying to sort out the facts of the case.  He was arrested on drug-related charges, then released.

The kidnapping happened just a few days before someone intentionally set a fire at Henderson's house. A 5-month-old boy was burned and critically injured. Police said an unknown suspect broke into the house and set the fire, but Hughes is also a person of interest in the case.

Officers cannot locate Hughes. They believe he is on the run. They're asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to call Midwest City Police at 405-739-1306.
