OKLAHOMA CITY -- One month ago an Oklahoma teen accepted an ambitious challenge to raise enough money to feed 500 people for Thanksgiving and just in time for the holiday, he sent a check to the City Rescue Mission to do just that.
"It's pretty heartwarming. A sense of good feeling that you did something good," said Eric Ringwald.
The 16-year-old donated more than $2,300 to the City Rescue Mission. He raised the money through donations from his church, generous Oklahomans and a few businesses.
City Rescue Mission officials say Ringwald's challenge is a testament to his character.
"You know a lot of times young people are looked upon as being selfish and self centered but this is a perfect example of the heart of the youth of our community," said Tom Jones, President/CEO of the City Rescue Mission.
Jones said the donation will make a difference in many Oklahomans lives.
