OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Air Transport Association said they anticipate about 24 million air travelers over the Thanksgiving Holiday period. Many passengers have already voiced concerns over new controversial body-scanning technology, but currently only a small percentage of airports are using the machines.

There are 385 full-body scanning machines at 68 airports nationwide, according to the TSA.

However, according to the TSA's blog, "A very small percentage of passengers will need to receive a pat-down." Only passengers who set off a metal detector or AIT machine, body scanner, will receive a pat-down, which is about 3 percent, according to the TSA. Passengers can also opt out of using the AIT machine and receive a pat-down.

Read myths and facts about pat-downs and body scanners on the TSA's blog.

The TSA website lists all the airports that are currently using advance-imaging technology to screen passengers.
