ARCADIA, Oklahoma -- It's a historical landmark known all around the Sooner State, but folks who support the Round Barn in Arcadia say the landmark is being threatened.

A giant billboard recently went up right in front of the historic site.

Members of the Historic Society say they want this sign taken down. City leaders say the company that put up the sign was within its rights. Zoom Media Group LLC owns the property the sign is on.

"It's destroying the whole purpose of having a historical landmark. The barn is photographed from people from all over the world. Now with the sign, all you see is that big structure," said Viola Davis, president of the Arcadia Historical and Preservation Society.

Davis spoke with the owner of the company about the sign. He told her he would be willing to take it down if someone else paid the costs. She said estimates show it could cost up to $20,000.

In that statement, Zoom Media Group LLc said they bought the land here from Expression Church.

"I Appreciate the residents of Arcadia and celebrate the beauty of the barn and in no way had the intent of making the erection of a billboard a controversial issue or upset the residents of Arcadia. This was simply a business decision," said the Mazaheri Law Firm on behalf of Zoom Media Group LLC.

Leaders and community members will be talking about what, if anything, should be done about the sign at Tuesday's city council meeting at 7 p.m.
