Young Woman Fatally Stabbed, Man Injured Inside Moore Home

MOORE, Oklahoma -- Moore police were on the scene of a violent crime Wednesday that left one young woman dead and a man critically injured.

A spokesman for the Moore Police Department said a man inside a home on Southeast 6th Circle called 911 around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and said he and a female had been assaulted, and the female was deceased.

The female was reportedly stabbed to death.  Police have not released her name or age.

The male victim was rushed to a hospital in critical condition with multiple slash wounds. His name has not been released.

Jimmy Smalley owned the home where the victims were found. Smalley is friends with the 19-year-old victim's father, who recently moved away but his son wanted to stay in Oklahoma and join the Air Force in December so Smalley offered to let him stay.

Smalley said the female victim did not live in the house.

Police said this is a first for the area.

"This is a fairly new neighborhood, an upper-class neighborhood. We don't ever have any problems here so it's pretty shocking this happened in this neighborhood," said Moore Police Sgt. Jeremy Lewis.

Not far from Tinker Air Force Base, the five-year-old neighborhood is home to many military families. It's also home to many of Moore's police officers.

"I don't know that we've ever had this many police cars at once in the neighborhood other than the people that live here," said resident Roni Grimes. "Rock Creek is safe and I guess in any neighborhood anything is possible but it'll definitely make you hug your kids a little tighter tonight."

Moore police are still investigating the incident and working to determine a motive and a possible suspect. They said they needed to talk to the male victim to learn more information.
