Cherokee Nation Awarded $240,000 from Environmental Protection Agency

The Environmental Protection Agency has awarded $240,000 to the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Environmental Protection Agency has awarded $240,000 to the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.

The Tribe will use the funds to conduct its annual Inter-Tribal Environmental Council conference. The conference is held to assist five tribes in the development of customized tribal water quality data templates, maintain quality assurance documents, and present interactive environmental education models to the Tribal Summer Youth Corps.

The funds will also be used to develop an environmental programs informational video to promote success stories, train staff to be certified measurement specialists and expand existing environmental complaint database systems.
