OKLAHOMA CITY – Police are seeing a new crime trend across the country and anyone could fall victim.

Thieves are snatching and grabbing cell phones right out of people's hands. It's happening while people are texting and walking. While you are watching your phone's screen, thieves may be watching you.

"What's happening is that people are walking, texting, suddenly someone just comes up from behind take the iPhone right off their hand and run off," New Orleans Police Capt. Edwin Hosli.

The thieves then reprogram the phones to use for themselves or sell them.

But police are getting better at pulling information off the phones and tracking down the culprits.
