SHAWNEE, Oklahoma -- A cold case in Shawnee will soon be a closed case.

Nine years ago, Rex Treat was found dead in an alley. He was stripped naked, curled in the fetal position, and wrapped in a blanket. He had died from blunt force injuries to the head.

The case remained unsolved for eight years. In March of 2009, a man named Matthew Williams walked into the Shawnee Police Department and confessed to the crime.

Investigators tested his story and found that Williams knew details of the crime that only the murderer or someone at the scene could have known.

Earlier this month, Williams appeared in court and pleaded guilty to Treat's murder.

Williams will be back in court next month for sentencing. The District Attorney will ask that Williams be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
