Big Truck Tacos to Be Racing Across America in Food Network Challenge

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Big Truck Tacos has won America's vote and the Oklahoma City foodie favorite has the chance to compete in the next season of Food Network's "Great Food Truck Race."

Food Network announced Big Truck Tacos won on the finale of the first season of their food truck competition. The restaurant on wheels was in first place for much of the voting against almost 300 other trucks from across the country.

"We knew that we would do good, that our food was good. We had no idea it would be this big," said Kathryn Mathis, co-owner of Big Truck Tacos.

Big Truck also won $10,000 on top of the opportunity to compete on the show.

"I don't really think it's about the 10k, or even the opportunity to be on the Food Network. I think it's about in the past year we've created a community that has been so supportive of us," said Big Truck Tacos co-owner Cally Johnson.

They're not sure yet what they'll do with the money but said they'll probably use it to fix up the truck.

Big Truck is known for their unique taco creations. Their popularity around the metro helped the business expand with a permanent location at 530 N.W. 23rd Street and a second taco truck.

The Great Food Truck Race premiered on the Food Network in August with seven food trucks racing and cooking across America.
