CADDO COUNTY, Oklahoma -- An unidentified man who was lying in a roadway was struck and killed overnight Sunday in Caddo County. Troopers say the man, who smelled of alcohol, was lying in U.S. Highway 62 just north of County Road 1370 at about 2:29 a.m. when evidence at the scene showed he was struck and killed by a vehicle that then left the scene.

The man is described as an Indian male who was taken to the Oklahoma City Medical Examiner's Office by Stillwell EMS. He died at the scene of the apparent hit and run accident.

Oklahoma State Highway Patrol had not yet notified the man's next of kin, according to the accident report.

Caddo County Sheriff's Department, the Apache Police Department, Anadarko Fire Department and ODOT assisted in the investigation, the trooper reports.

Highway 62 at Highway 9 was closed for about three hours while the scene was investigated.
