EDMOND, Oklahoma -- The new $20 million Armstrong Auditorium will be opening its doors on Sunday, September 5 in Edmond. The auditorium will showcase talents from all over the world.

The inaugural season, which starts in September to April, will include the Vienna Boys Choir and the Russian National Ballet Theater performing "Swan Lake".

The 823-seat auditorium is decorated with over a dozen chandeliers. The eight-story building is located near Bryant Avenue and Waterloo Road in Edmond.

"You get to experience the performances here in an intimate setting that you would not find in most other concert halls," said Shane Granger, Armstrong International Cultural Foundation. "The back row is only 85 feet from the stage to the balcony. That's less than from home to first base, so it's very intimate, visually and acoustically as well."

An iconic swan monument by the famed London Sculptor Sir David Wynne will be unveiled at the grand opening ceremonies.

Funding for the building came from the Armstrong International Cultural Foundation.

"Our mission is to champion Oklahoma as a world class center for the performing arts," Granger said.
