ANADARKO, Oklahoma -- Caddo County's next district 3 county commissioner will be decided by a recount.

The county election board ordered a recount of votes on Friday, following a petition by Democratic candidate Carlos Squires.

Unofficial results showed Squires lost Tuesday's runoff primary election to Brent Kinder by eight votes. Squires received 831 votes, and Kinder received 839 votes for district 3 county commissioner, according to unofficial results.

Election officials will recount all ballots on September 1 at the Caddo County Courthouse in Anadarko.

Results of the recount will be certified afterwards, an election official said.

The winner of the recount will become district 3 county commissioner because there is no other challenger.

Squires paid the required $600 for a recount, according to documents filed with the election board.

Meanwhile, another candidate has contested Tuesday's results in the Democratic runoff for Caddo County assessor.

Incumbent Sandy Crumm alleged voter irregularity, including electioneering and illegal voting.

Unofficial results showed Edward Whitworth defeated Crumm by 91 votes.

A hearing on the matter is scheduled for September 2 at the Caddo County Courthouse.
