OKLAHOMA CITY – The Just Between Friends Consignment Sale is a bargain shopper's paradise. It one of the biggest children's consignment sales in the country and it all started with a local stay at home mom.

"The first time we did it I thought ‘We'll just see how it goes.' And we made a little bit of money and I thought ‘This might be a great business to start.' Being a stay at home mom I thought I'll just be able to provide a little bit for my kids to be able to do dance lessons, gymnastics, sports and things like that," said Just Between Friends founder, Kathy Winslow.

This sale has grown during the past 12 years out of Kathy's living room to now fill the Cox pavilion.

For Winslow, it has become a full time job because she oversees every aspect. For the women willing to wait hours, it's the must-attend shopping event for kid's items.

Kathy Winslow's idea behind Just Between Friends is like a huge garage sale just for kid things including clothes, shoes, toys and books along with furniture and room decorations. Families sell things they no longer need and buyers can find almost everything they're looking for.

"I think in this economy people, they spend a lot of money on their baby and children's items and they want to recoup some of that money and also be able to put that back into what they need the next season, because children are always growing and you're always needing new things for them," said Winslow.

And for the Winslows, it's a family business involving Kathy's husband and her three children, including 15-year-old Lauren. Lauren has been attending the sale since she was three.

"I'm really amazed ‘cause it started in our living room. And watching it go from two rolling racks to this huge event with almost a mile of racks long full of clothes is really, really cool," said Lauren.

"Now she's a teenager and she's seen a neat business model and something that's really serves the community that we're excited about as a family. We just have a passion about because we can interact with so many families and I really feel like we serve so many people in our community" said Winslow.

Kathy Winslow said moms should follow their passion.

"The beauty of it is if you're looking at it to make money and to bless your family financially, if you enjoy it, it won't be a job. It will be something you enjoy doing everyday and the blessing will come," Winslow said.
