OKLAHOMA CITY -- The commander of a local American Legion Post said he's being targeted.

Frank James said someone took a shot at his car, and he thinks it may be in retaliation for speaking out about the VA Hospital's treatment of two Navy Reservists.

"It's a shock. I mean I don't know if it was meant to do harm or to intimidate but it will not lessen our resolve to stand behind these servicemen and see it through," James said.

James is the Commander of the American Legion Post 73 in Del City and works at the OKC VA Medical Center.

He discovered what looked like a bullet hole in the hood of his car over the weekend.

"Whoever it was I think it was a non vet because he was a lousy shot," James said. "I've done a lot of things, done a lot of representing of a lot of people with the EEO and the union but never to this level where someone would want to take a shot at me."

He is helping represent Navy Reserve Corpmen Todd Bracelin and Jeremy Bishop, who he works with at the OKC VA Medical Center. They claim the VA is trying to fire them and dock their pay for attending a mandatory military training, which, if true, would be a direct violation of their USERRA rights.

James recently spoke out about the alleged USERRA violations at the American Legion's annual convention. The speech was recorded and posted on YouTube, where it has received more than 2,500 hits. James also spoke with NEWS 9 about how the American Legion is helping the Reservists fight their case.

"I've never had anyone shoot at me before in my life," James said "This did not happen until after the YouTube video came out."

Del City police are investigating the shooting.
