OKLAHOMA CITY -- Firefighters treated two people early Sunday morning for inhaling fumes from mixed chemicals.

The chemicals were in the back of a tanker truck at the Petro Travel Plaza at Martin Luther King Boulevard and Reno Avenue in northeast Oklahoma City. Oklahoma City police and fire crews, along with a hazmat team responded to the scene.

Crews said the containers fell over and the chemicals mixed together. Firefighters had to be extra careful cleaning up the mess because of the heat.

"The equipment the guys go in to do the initial testing is essentially a plastic bag that they put on so they can only work in those for about five minutes," said Oklahoma City Battalion Chief Todd Matthews.

Both people were treated at the travel plaza and were allowed to leave without going to the hospital.

Traffic on Reno was impacted for a short time.
