OKLAHOMA CITY -- Emergency crews responded to a fatal hit and run involving a cyclist in far eastern Oklahoma City Saturday morning.

Police said a bicyclist traveling south on Midwest Boulevard about a half mile south of Memorial Road was struck and killed by a car.

"It appears this is someone who does this for sport for sporting, the way he's dressed, the type of bike he's riding. It doesn't appear to just be a recreational type," said Oklahoma Cit Police Capt. Dee Patty.

The accident was reported by a passerby who noticed the victim and his shattered bicycle in the roadside ditch at about 8 a.m. Police have no eyewitnesses to this accident.

Another fatality hit and run involving two cars, happened earlier Saturday morning in Oklahoma City: OKC Police Investigate Fatality Wreck As Hit And Run.

The victim was a white male. The name of the victim will be released after next of kin has been notified.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 235-7300.
