MOORE, Oklahoma -- Moore police want to warn citizens of a man suspected of driving around pretending to be a police officer.
On Wednesday police said they received a call from a woman who said she was pulled over my man in a black, unmarked car with flashing red and blue dash lights near 34th Street and Sunnylane Road.
During the stop the woman said a man in dark clothes told her there was road construction ahead and then followed up by asking for her ID. Police said after asking for her ID he said he was not convinced it was real and proceeded by following the woman home. Once at her house the man sped away.
"This woman is lucky, the situation could have ended much worse," Lt. Greg Anderson said.
In addition to the incident involving the woman, Moore police also received two similar calls.
One of the similar calls came from a utility worker from an officer who told him he couldn't park in the street and another call from a driver complaining that he got nervous when a black car followed him for a distance.
"We checked and it wasn't any of our officers and it wasn't any other law enforcement agency in this area," Anderson said. "If you are ever concerned that a person pulling you over is not a member of law enforcement call 911 and they can determine if the person is a real officer or not."
