PURCELL, Oklahoma -- Purcell police have captured an escapee from the L.E. Rader Center in Sand Springs after he was spotted riding a bicycle on I-35 near their community.
The Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs said 15-year-old Dillon Herzfeld and 17-year-old William James were spotted by a Purcell police officer riding south on I-35 late Monday afternoon when they were pulled over.
Dillon Herzfeld was arrested, but William James escaped by fleeing through traffic across I-35 on foot.
The pair escaped May 26 from the center located on Highway 51 in Sand Springs, by cutting a hole in a fence.
The Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs said the pair were serving time at the Rader Center for a variety offenses, including first-degree rape and larceny.
Police are searching Purcell for James, who is described as 5' 10", 160 pounds and was last seen wearing gray cutoff sweatpants and an orange OSU shirt. He has close cropped hair pulled back in a pony tail and a small goatee.
