Edmond Teen Dies in ATV Accident in Pittsburg County

McALESTER, Oklahoma -- A 13-year-old Edmond boy has died while riding an all-terrain vehicle in Pittsburg County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Nicholas Van Stavern was riding across a pasture near State Highway 113 on Monday about 3 p.m. when he went through a dip and lost control of the ATV, which overturned.

He was pronounced dead from head injuries after being taken to a McAlester hospital. Troopers say he was not wearing a helmet.
