PAOLI, Oklahoma -- The man who authorities say attacked his estranged wife with a knife in Paoli Thursday has had a run in with the law before.
Guy Dunn, 57, was convicted of assaulting a police officer in McClain County last year and received a three-year deferred sentence.
Officers were fearful that Dunn was about to commit suicide when they went to arrest him Thursday, said McClain County District Attorney Greg Mashburn. When they removed him from his car, he swung at the officers.
Mashburn said if Dunn survives his own injuries, he'll probably try to void the deferred sentence and have Dunn incarcerated.
District Attorney Mashburn said part of the deferred sentence required Dunn to get a mental health evaluation, but he failed to do so.
Dunn and his wife are both currently hospitalized in Oklahoma City.
