OKLAHOMA CITY -- Toyota is trying to emerge from a giant black eye after a massive recall affecting some of the automakers top sellers. The company has apologized and dealers across the country are now fixing the problem.

At Dub Richardson Toyota they began fixing the recalled cars starting yesterday. What they are doing is working on the cars they have in their lot first, then they will begin working on the cars already on the road.

"I've definitely been concerned about it," Toyota owner Chris Dyson said.

Dyson is so worried about two young children. That's because the proud father's 2009 Toyota Camry is one the seven Toyota models being recalled due to faulty accelerator pedals.

"I haven't seen or felt any issues with it yet," said Dyson. "I plan on taking it in, but I want to make sure they know what it is first before I do take it in."

But, Toyota remains convinced they have solved the problem. At Dub Richardson Toyota they are already making repairs to accelerator pedals that have been known to stick to the floor board after heavy use. The cars are just two of the 2.3 million recalled Toyota cars and trucks in the U.S. alone.

And at a press conference in Japan the company's president wanted to assure his customers they're doing everything possible to fix the problem.

Akio Toyoda, President of Toyota Motors said:

"The current problem is a huge problem and it is a critical situation. We as a company must unite and work on the regain the trust from our customers. I believe that it is also my responsibility."

But until Toyota drivers like Dyson have his car fixed, he will continue to do what he can to keep his kids safe.

"We don't use my car taking them around," said Dyson. "We use my wife's car right now."

Beginning today, Toyota is sending out letters to their customers advising them when they can bring their car or truck in to get repaired.

Toyota officials add, drivers who notice their accelerator pedal having any kind of issues to bring it into a local dealership right away.
