HUGHES COUNTY -- A 33-year-old Holdenville man was killed in a single-car wreck early Sunday morning after his car left the road on a snowy embankment.

Rubin Rodriguez was driving southbound on State Highway 48 in Hughes County when his 1998 Ford Taurus left the highway to the right on a snow-covered embankment, according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Rodriguez's car went into a slide, hit a cement drainage culvert and rolled one and a half times coming to rest in about 1.5 feet of water. Rodriguez, who was pinned in the car, died at the scene due to massive injuries.

A passenger, Juan Delgado-Munoz, 23, also of Holdenville, was transported to Holdenville General Hospital with head injuries. He was treated and released.

Officers say there was fog present at the time of the accident, and that seat belts were in use.
