First Lady Michelle Obama Recognizes OKC Mayor for City's Weight Loss Plan

WASHINGTON -- First lady Michelle Obama praised Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett for his weight loss plan for Oklahoma City Tuesday during her speech to the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

At the conference, Obama challenged other mayors across the country to follow suit and challenge their residents to shed the pounds. Obama's main focus was on childhood obesity.

"He challenged the people of Oklahoma City to lose a million pounds and created a Web site, thiscityisgoingonadiet.com," Michelle Obama said. "So far, 40,000 people have signed up -- and together, they've lost more than half a million pounds."

The conference in Washington runs through Friday.
