OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma Child Support Services Division will be mailing out letters to 44,000 households explaining a new annual federal fee for its customers.

Starting in February, the state will charge an annual $25 fee to its customers who collect more than $500 in state child support services each year. Until now, the state has paid the $25 federal fee, but recent state budget cuts have forced the agency to pass the fee along to its customers.

"Oklahoma agencies were ordered to cut five percent from their operating budgets when state revenue fell below estimates," said Gary W. Dart, division director for OCSS. "We hope the $25 federal fee is easier on the families we serve than cutting services would have been."

The $25 fee will be ducted from February's payment.
