OKLAHOMA CITY -- Remnants of the blizzard can still be seen in parts of the state and the cold temperatures are definitely still around. And while all the snow caused big problems for many, it may actually be helping one of Oklahoma's major industries.

The bitter cold snap is proving to be good news for wheat farmers across the state.

Curtis Roberts is a 3rd generation farmer.

"I've been a farmer all my life," said Roberts said. "When you get the sun on it, it's sure getting a good green color now."

There's a sign of life sprouting in a field of wheat crop. The wheat crops are dormant and getting much needed moisture from the snow cover. A year ago, rain was much needed for the dry wheat crops.

"It was especially dry and we couldn't hardly do anything; there was a drought," Roberts said.

And once again, the moisture is now welcomed news.

"It's got a pretty good root system, especially with the snow on there, it's like a blanket, it's actually growing a little under there and it'll be pretty green when the snow comes off," Roberts said.

Most wheat crop across Oklahoma was planted in time to develop a good root system and things could be looking up when the crop grows in time for harvest in the summer.

"We just hope for the best," Roberts said.

The cold temperatures will keep the wheat crop in decent shape across the state.
