OKLAHOMA CITY -- With more snow in the forecast, the man in charge of the cleanup is worried about a salt and sand shortfall after this week.
The city has about 4,300 tons of salt and sand on hand, enough to get through the next storm, but Mike DeGiacomo said he's already spent most of this year's salt and sand budget.
"We're not even to January yet and so what I have to be able to do is plan for getting additional salt and material in the yard," said Oklahoma City Street Superintendent Mike DeGiacomo.
DeGiacomo said the city will have to rely on contingency funds to purchase more materials.
Another challenge is Oklahoma City will be competing with larger cities who could also be looking to buy more salt and sand.
