OKLAHOMA CITY -- Winter weather is right at the doorstep this day before Christmas Eve.

Wednesday night, forecasters expect snow and blowing snow in northwest Oklahoma, with rain changing over to snow in central Oklahoma and storms possible in eastern Oklahoma.

Christmas Eve there is an 80 percent chance of snow in central Oklahoma with 3 to 6 inches possible. Wind chills will also be a bit brutal tomorrow with temperatures below freezing and northerly winds at 20 to 35 mph.

The city of Oklahoma City released a statement that city street crews will have salt crews prepared for expected overnight snow and sleet. Salt will be spread over streets, bridges and overpasses along the city's regional snow routes.

According to Street Superintendent Mike DeGiacomo, rock salt is in good supply with more than 9,000 tons in the Public Works' inventory.

Drivers are encouraged to keep 200 feet away from salt trucks.
