OKLAHOMA CITY -- Police are searching for several shoplifters who assaulted two employees at a busy metro store.

Police said the attack happened to at the Old Navy store off of I-240 between Pennsylvania Avenue and Western Avenue.

An employee spotted three women shoplifting in the store. When she confronted the women, they dropped their merchandise, shoved the employee and ran out of the store.

Another employee took off after them to get their car tag number, but once outside the suspects dragged the employee into the parking lot and started hitting her in the head. The suspects then got into a blue four-door car and left.

"The employees did nothing wrong they believed something was out of the ordinary and suspicious. They went to investigate and basically were just attacked by these girls," said Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow.

The employee who was brutally attacked by the three women is expected to be OK, but she did suffer several injuries to her head.

A spokesperson for Gap Inc. released a statement regarding the incident:

"The most important thing is the safety and well being of our customers and staff. As an additional precautionary measure we have added more of our own security officers to this location. This is now a matter of police investigation and all further inquiries should be directed to them."

If you recognize the women in the surveillance photo call Crime Stoppers at 405-235-7300.
