Voters Approve School Bonds for Norman, Newcastle

Norman voters passed two bond issues worth nearly $110 million during the election on Tuesday.

NORMAN, Oklahoma -- Norman voters passed two bond issues worth nearly $110 million during the election on Tuesday.

Proposition 1, which includes $105.5 million for a new elementary school in Norman, technology-smart classrooms, and upgrades at every district school, passed with 66.66 percent of the vote. Proposition 2 passed with 67.22 percent of the vote and provides $4.1 million for transportation.

"This gives our district an opportunity to make a significant difference in our facilities across our district and in each and every one of our buildings, and also a significant investment in technology, instructional technology," said Dr. Joe Siano, Norman School Superintendent.

Newcastle also passed its two school bonds Tuesday.
