Freezing Rain, Snow Could Impact Morning Commutes

OKLAHOMA CITY – Windy and cold conditions are expected for Oklahoma most of this week. A cold front moved through overnight Monday making for a cold and dry forecast ahead.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for western and north-central Oklahoma, where freezing drizzle and snow impact the morning commute. Temperatures are expected to climb above freezing on Tuesday, and any lingering precipitation should fall as rain.

The greatest chance of any accumulation of winter precipitation is in far northwestern Oklahoma near the Kansas border.

More cloudy conditions will be on tap through Tuesday, with a chance early of light freezing rain and light freezing drizzle in the Oklahoma Panhandle, western and north-central Oklahoma, according to the weather service.

Light rain is expected elsewhere as temperatures range from the middle 30s in the Panhandle to the middle 50s in southeastern Oklahoma. As a cold front moves through, lows Tuesday night should bottom out in a range from the single digits in the Panhandle to the mid-30s in the southeast.

Clear to partly cloudy skies and cooler temperatures are expected on Wednesday as another cold front moves through. Highs should only range from the middle 20s to low 40s statewide for the rest of the week.

Another cold front will move through on Wednesday, keeping lows in the 20s and highs in the mid 30s for the rest of the workweek.
