OKLAHOMA CITY -- A Halloween sobriety checkpoint netted the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office 26 arrests, 16 for driving under the influence.
“That’s successful; we got 16 drunk drivers off the road,” said Mark Myers, Public Information Officer.
Five people were arrested on unspecified outstanding warrants, three for driving under suspension or no driver’s license, and two for other infractions.
The checkpoint started at 10:30 p.m. at 3900 SW 15th Street in Oklahoma City. Officers worked a total of five and a half hours with the additional daylight saving time hour.
“We had a few people in costume,” Myers said.
The OCSO also wrote 90 citations, issued 34 warnings and impounded 39 vehicles on Halloween night.
