OKLAHOMA CITY -- Drunk driving is the cause of over half of all highway fatalities across the nation on Halloween night. That's why law enforcement officers across the state will be in full force to help keep the roads safe this Halloween.

Public safety officers say they don't want your Halloween to turn into a horror stor, and they just want to make sure you have a spook-tacular holiday.

As thousands of people hit the streets this Halloween public safety officials want to make sure your weekend is full of treats and not tricks.

Oklahoma Highway Safety's spokesperson Sabrina Mackey says buzzed driving is drunk driving and the statistics are sobering.

"In 2008 we saw 266 fatalities related to alcohol crashes," said Mackey. "DUIs are definitely something that's increased around this time of the year, especially for Halloween."
