OKLAHOMA CITY -- Are we just a few years away from the end of the world? There are those who believe we are and even Hollywood is now playing on those fears.

The end of the world talk stems from the Mayan people, better known as ancient time keepers. If you go by their over 5,000 year calendar, the last date in it is December 21, 2012.

It's something people have a hard time grasping, the end of the world, a subject the upcoming movie 2012 tackles head on.

A far-fetched movie? Maybe not, there are plenty of Web sites that believe the date is significant.

“People will experience a greater disharmony or conflict if they don't start looking for what’s permanent,” said metaphysicist Ivy Norris.

Ivy Norris believes the year 2012 will bring about change.

“It's not that the world is going to end at 2012, it's that our experiences of the world, of our life, of our self, our relationship will change drastically,” Norris said.

"The Bible says that God is the only one that knows the future," said author and pastor Dr. Mark Hitchcock.

One man trying to debunk the fear of the end of the world and talk of great change is Dr. Hitchcock. Hitchcock is holding seminars about 2012 and it relates to the Bible. He has even written a book on the subject. The way he sees it, only God knows what the future holds.

"For people to come along and profess they know the time of the second coming of Jesus or time of the end of the world is saying they know something God says they can't know,” Dr. Hitchcock said.
