OKLAHOMA CITY – The University of Oklahoma will host a one-day women's symposium next week in an effort to educate women on a variety of topics.

The symposium will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15 at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City. Female speakers are slated to be at the conference to discuss issues including women’s health, leadership, family, gender roles, tools for success, the importance of public service and social media.

“OU recognizes how important it is to provide women with the skill sets to succeed in today’s competitive environment,” said Misty Rhodes, director of academic programs for University of Oklahoma Outreach. “We are delighted to have assembled this all-star group of speakers to inspire and provide concrete tools for our audience.”

The conference will spotlight women who have proven track records in all aspects of life, whether it be career, home or community service.

“This is a wonderful chance to come together to network with and be inspired by women in the community,” said former first lady and event speaker Cathy Keating. “In this ever-changing world in which we live, a forum such as this provides us with the opportunity to look at things differently so that at the end of the day, we will leave inspired, renewed and motivated to be open to every new possibility which exists in both our personal and professional lives.”

Featured speakers include Sherri Coale, OU head women’s basketball coach, Cathy Keating, former first lady, Mary Ann Bauman, author and physician, Linda Haneborg, marketing consultant and motivational speaker, Jennifer Howard, small business development coach, Annette Klososky, president, Executive Development Associates, Charlotte Lankard, weekly columnist, The Oklahoman and licensed marriage and family therapist, Monique Terrell, CEO and president, Sparkle Internet Image Solutions and Robin Marsh, Emmy-nominated and national award-winning journalist and NEWS 9 anchor.
