Pan- Fried Green Tomatoes

A classic American movie showed the southern dish to the rest of the country; Fried Green Tomatoes.

Ingredients

1 green tomato

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

1/4 teaspoon white ground pepper

1 tablespoon fine flour or fine bread crumbs

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Cooking Instructions

Wash the tomato gently in cool water and wipe dry.

Using a small sharp knife, remove the stem and the core.

Place the unpeeled tomato vertically on a cutting board and with a sharp knife, slice tomato into 1/2 inch slices and set aside.

In a shallow dish, prepare breading by combing the sea salt, white pepper, flour and toss until mixed well.

Heat vegetable oil in a skillet on medium heat.

Dip tomato slices in breading until both sides of slices are lightly coated.

In the skillet, fry the slices for 4-6 minutes on each side or until brown.

Remove slices and place on plate to serve plain or drizzle with dressing.
