OKLAHOMA CITY - Nate Diaz should be careful what he wished for. Diaz asked for somebody who would fight him. The season five Ultimate Fighter reality show winner got his wish in the form of Melvin Guillard. Guillard's standup looked superior in the first round, dropping Diaz with his first punch of the fight. Guillard won the first round on all three judges' score cards in their main event bout.

The Louisiana native seemed well on his way to winning the second round with a vicious body kick that echoed throughout the Cox Center. Guillard took Diaz down but inexplicably left his head down on the side of the Stockton, California native. The jiu-jitsu brown belt took advantage tapping Guillard out with a guillotine choke at the 2:13 mark in the second round.

"I knew he'd probably shoot," Diaz said. "I watched his fights, I knew he liked to brawl but I knew he liked to score points too."

Diaz earned a $30,000 submission of the night bonus and improved to 11-4 overall. Guillard drops to 41-9-3 with 1 NC.

Fight of the night belonged to Nate Quarry and Tim Credeur. The middleweight fight went all three rounds, leaving both participants battered and bruised (look at the pictures). Quarry received the nod in a unanimous decision.

Credeur nearly finished Quarry in the first round with a rear naked choke, but "The Rock" escaped. Quarry knocked Creduer down with punches in the second and third rounds but was not able to finish. Both fighters faces looked like repeatedly dropped fruit; however a $30,000 bonus helped ease some of the pain.

"It was a back and forth war with him almost finishing me in the first, and me trying to get him in the second and third," Quarry said. "I knew coming into it that that's what it was going to be. This is one of the toughest fights I've ever had."

Gray Maynard sent Roger Huerta away as a loser in his final bout in the UFC. "The Bully" earned a split decision over "El Matador" in their lightweight tilt. Huerta is leaving the UFC to pursue an acting career and exits with a 22-3-1 record with 1 NC. Maynard improves to 9-0 with 1 NC.

Carlos Condit (24-5) notched his first win in the UFC but it did not come easy. Jake Ellenberger (21-5) dropped "The Natural Born Killer" twice in the opening round. The former WEC welterweight champion recovered and finished round three with a flurry of punches earning a split decision.

Ryan Jensen (15-4) won a controversial decision over Steve Steinbeiss (4-3) in their middleweight bout. Jensen applied a guillotine choke to Steinbeiss. Referee Gary Ritter pulled on his arm to see if he was OK, Steinbeiss gave him thumbs up but Ritter read the signal wrong and called a stop to the fight.

Mike Pierce (9-2) earned a unanimous decision over Brock Larson (27-3) in their welterweight bout.

Jeremy Stephens (17-5) won his lightweight fight with Justin Buchholz (9-4) after the doctor called the bout due to a cut over Buchholz's right eye. Both men came out swinging for the fences, but a series of knees from the clinch dropped Buchholz. Referee Kevin Nix stopped the match to inspect Buchholz's eye, and called the fight at 3:23 in the first round.

Former Ultimate Fighter participant CB Dollaway (10-3) got back into the win column with a unanimous decision over Jay Silva (5-2) in their middleweight fight.

Mike Pyle (18-6-1) submitted Chris Wilson (13-6) with a guillotine choke in the third round of their welterweight bout. Pyle won the first two rounds on the judges score card.

Brian Stann (7-2) won a unanimous decision against Steve Cantwell (7-3) in their light heavyweight rubber match. However this fight was nowhere near as explosive as the previous two fights between the former WEC champions. Cantwell won just one round on one judge's scorecard.
