Over the past three days Oklahoma has been stuck in a rather stubborn weather pattern resulting in clockwork, overnight thunderstorms. The excessive rainfall accumulated since Sunday over central and northern parts of the state has prompted a Flash Flood Watch to be issued through Thursday morning. Widespread, three-day rainfall amounts in the two to six inch range are common across this area, with locally higher totals over eight inches.
Thunderstorms developing along a cold front this evening and tonight will bring more thunderstorms across central and northern Oklahoma, exacerbating the flooding problem. Severe thunderstorms capable of producing large hail, damaging wind, frequent lightning and flooding rain will be possible from 7 PM through 7 AM Thursday morning.
Drier, more stable air ushered in behind the cold front will bring an end to the rainy days and nights just in time for the weekend.
