OU's co-starting RB Chris Brown is once again drawing rave reviews from coaches and insiders who have seen him day in and day out since the national title loss to Florida.

He looks better than ever, not uncommon from seniors who return to fall ball with sleeker bodies, improved measurable and simply better football players than when the previous season ends.

It doesn't take a health care expert to figure out why: NFL millions versus college meal money. There's something about the potential of cold hard cash.

Brown has always been reliable, consistent and had a great attitude. But he's kicked into another gear.

I'm told by those in the know in Norman that "he's doing things we haven't seen much before...making people miss...more side to side... shiftier...he looks awesome...and with Demarco's surgery working so well we have the luxury of making sure we find a way to get Mosis Madu in the slot or as a wide out...more reps because we need our best players out there...You should see how he looks physically."

Brown has always been underrated to me. Murray came in more highly touted and has not disappointed. Brown is not as dynamic as Murray and makes less highlight reel plays. But he's yet another solid if not spectacular back that his coach Cale Gundy has put on the field.

Brown is really good, NFL good. Look for Brown to have a long and productive career.

Sporting News lists OSU's "triplets" of Zac Robinson, Dez Bryant and Kendall Hunter as the top trio in the country. They are a special bunch.

However, OU wouldn't trade their threesome of Heisman winner Sam Bradford, the best tight end in the U.S. of A Jermaine Gresham and Murray for anyone. Throw in Brown and a foursome is set to tee off on someone, making them perhaps the best quarto of any in college balls.

Toss in another first round pick in Trent Williams...and oh yea, Ryan Broyles and you've got the best six...You get the point.

Quality depth is one of the things that separate OU and OSU and every team the Sooners play with the exception of the Texas and Florida types.

And guys like Brown and newfound center Brody Eldreidge are the latest examples.
