IDABEL, Oklahoma -- An Idabel man drowned Sunday while fishing in the Little River in southeast Oklahoma.
Christopher Dale Chapman, 27, drowned early Sunday morning after being swept over a low water dam while fishing with two friends about a mile outside Idabel.
Chapman was noodling along the south bank of the river just west of the dam Friday when he and another fisherman were caught in the current around 4 p.m.
Chapman was dragged under the water, surfaced once but did not reappear, witnesses told Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers. The other fisherman was able to escape.
His body was recovered Sunday morning in about 6 feet of water.
