OKLAHOMA CITY - Police are investigating a connection between two possible attacks on women in northwest Oklahoma City.

During one of the attacks, a woman used an unusual weapon, her daughter's stroller, to fight off her assailant.

The woman was attacked while jogging with her 2-year-old. NEWS 9 contacted her, but she didn't want to speak on camera.

Police are investigating whether her case is connected to another recent attack.

Saturday night at about 9:30 p.m. in front of the Quail Ridge Apartments, near May Avenue and Memorial Road, a woman told investigators she was jogging with her young daughter when someone came up from behind.

"Grabbed her on her right hip while she was jogging. Her immediate response was to turn around and strike this suspect. In doing so the stroller tipped over and her daughter actually fell out of the stroller," Oklahoma Police Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said.

According to a police report, the victim then, "grabbed the stroller and began screaming 'Help! No!' while swinging the stroller at the suspect."

"There were two individuals who live in this complex who stated they did hear screaming. When they came outside they did see a black male individual running northbound into the apartment complex," Sgt. Wardlow said.

Police say the assault sounds just like one that happened only 24 hours earlier less than a mile away at Pennsylvania Avenue and 127th Street.

During this attack, a woman was walking between two apartments when she was grabbed on her shoulder. She elbowed the suspect and ran away.

"Right now our criminal intelligence unit is working this," Sgt. Wardlow said. "We have a similar suspect description and that is something they will be further investigating."

As for the little girl who fell out of the stroller, she received a bump on her head. She was checked out by EMSA and is fine.

Police said the suspect is described as a light-skinned black male, about six feet and 200 pounds. He has short hair and a bad complexion.

If you know anything about either incident, call Crime Stoppers at 235-7300.
