NORMAN, Oklahoma -- The Oklahoma Sooners and Army Black Knights announced today that the schools will begin a home-and-home football series in 2018.
OU will host Army on Sept. 22, 2018, and the Sooners will travel to West Point, New York, on Sept. 26, 2020.
The two schools have played each other three times previously, but have not met since 1961. Oklahoma holds a 2-1 advantage in the series.
The Sooners' one loss came in the teams' first meeting in 1946, when Army was the defending national champion. Both of OU's wins came in the Bud Wilkinson era, the first in 1959 and the second in 1961.
The Sooners will play high-profile non-conference teams every season for the next 11 years. The challenges begin this year against Miami, and then OU will begin successive home-and-home series against Florida State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Ohio State and LSU.
