Woman Hit, Killed by Train in Northwest Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City police said a woman on the tracks near Britton Road and Western Avenue was hit by a train.

She was taken to a hospital where she died.

Julia Venegas and her mother, Crystal Venegas, said they noticed the woman as their vehicle was crossing the tracks just before warning lights and bells activated.

Julia Venegas said they pulled over, jumped out and tried to warn the Burlington Northern Santa Fe train.

Crystal Venegas said the train conductor attempted to stop. She said the woman stood up as the train approached and extended her arms above her head.

The woman's name has not been released.
