Pipe Bomb Found Near Lake Arcadia

EDMOND, Oklahoma -- Edmond police detonated a pipe bomb after it was found in a trash can near Lake Arcadia Sunday.

The bomb squad was called out and the robot tried to detonate the pipe bomb. When the robot failed to detonate the bomb, two different officers in heavy suits were able to manually detonate the explosive.

"A lake goer here looked in a trash can down this roadway here and saw what he recognized to be a pipe bomb inside of it. He picked it up and took it to the gate shack and called the police department," said Edmond Police Officer James Hamm.

Police said someone dropped it in a trash can after trying to set it off.
