OKLAHOMA CITY -- It's been one month since a Texas man was found stabbed to death in Oklahoma City. The father of four lost his life on Father's Day.

Now, his family has traveled hundreds of miles desperate for answers. For the family of Ruben Silva, their tears haven't stopped. The phone call came on Father's Day that Rubin had been murdered.

"We've all lost somebody and losing somebody is hard but when somebody is taken from you, that makes it even more difficult," said Rosemary Silva, Ruben's sister-in-law.

Police said Ruben was killed in a parking lot near downtown Oklahoma City. His murder happened across the street from a family owned bar where Ruben was working as security.

"Apparently, there was an altercation outside. We don't know what started it, but we do know it ended with the death of Mr. Silva. He was stabbed and beaten," said Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Gary Knight.

"We would like to have closure on who did this. Ruben was the kind of person, he never started fights, but he was also the kind of person that he had your back," Silva said.

Ruben's family believes that's what cost him his life, they think he must have stood up for someone and in turn was killed.

"Put yourselves in our shoes, what would you do? What would you want? What would you ask for?" Silva said.

The family is asking for answers. Police believe dozens of people likely witnessed the crime, but no one has come forward to solve it.

"We just want to know who did it. We want them to pay for what they did. We don't want revenge, we don't want another family to go what we're going through," Silva said.

Besides being a father of four, Ruben also had four grandchildren. He'd been working in Oklahoma City for about a month in construction and also at the bar.

If you have any information about this crime, you're urged to call Crime Stoppers at 235-7300. You don't have to give your name and you may be eligible for a cash reward.
