I'll say it again; we beat the heat! After sweating 100 degree-plus temperatures for numerous, consecutive days, the high pressure furnace has retreated west into the Intermountain West. Now, locked into a northwest flow aloft, cooler conditions are on tap for the next seven days; 80s and low 90s during the afternoons with 60s and 70s during the morning.

Within the northwest flow, small, cold pockets aloft will rotate clockwise around an upper-level high bringing showers and thunderstorms through Oklahoma Monday night. Some of the storms could be severe with large hail and strong winds. Additional storms may develop during the heating of the afternoon Monday and Wednesday.
