Forecasters expect two main weather systems to drive active weather in the country to begin the workweek.
   First, a large trough of low pressure is expected to slowly move through the northeastern portion of the country. The trough isn't likely to have a tremendous amount of moisture, but should allow cool summertime air to spill into the Great Lakes and Northeast. This cool air is forecast to keep the already cool Summer in the Northeast mild.
   Scattered showers and some thunderstorms associated with this trough are expected to develop in the Southeast. This activity should increase in the afternoon as the hot summer sun mingles with the warm moisture already in place.
   Second, a seasonally strong low pressure system is forecast to make its way into the Northwest and Intermountain West. A decent amount of moisture is expected to be wrapped up in this system, thus fairly widespread precipitation should fall from the coast of Washington through the Northern Plains. Additional scattered showers are also possible along the Rockies due to the eastward movement of this low pressure system.
   The Northeast is expected to rise into the 70s and 80s, while the Southeast is forecast to see temperatures in the 80s and 90s. The Southern Plains and Southwest should rise into the 90s and 100s, while the Nothwest is likely to see temperatures in the 60s and 70s.
   Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday ranged from a low of 35 degrees at Intl Falls, Minn. to a high of 121 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
