Storms pummel parts of West Texas

Severe thunderstorms are blanketing parts of West Texas, dropping baseball- and golf ball-sized hail and prompting the issuance of some tornado warnings.

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) -- Severe thunderstorms are blanketing parts of West Texas, dropping baseball- and golf ball-sized hail and prompting the issuance of some tornado warnings.
   National Weather Service meteorologist Justin Weaver in Lubbock said a few funnel clouds had been reported Tuesday afternoon but none had touched down.
   Smyer in Hockley County has gotten golf ball-sized hail and baseball-sized hail dropped near Clairmont in Kent County, he said.
   The National Weather Service in San Angelo issued tornado warnings for several counties as storms moved through the region.
