Toddler Killed by Falling TV

A 2-year-old died Monday after a TV set fell on the child, police said.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A 2-year-old died Monday after a TV set fell on the child, police said.

Emergency crews were called to a home in the 1300 block of Meridian Avenue Monday afternoon. Police said the child was climbing on a shelf or a dresser with a TV on top, when the child pulled it down on top of himself.

The child was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead. After an investigation, police detectives have determined the incident was a tragic accident.

The 2-year-old's father is a maintenance worker for the Meridian Mansion complex. His co-workers are also mourning the loss.

The child's name has not been released.

An EMSA spokesperson said the agency responded to three television toppling calls in 2008.
