NORMAN, Oklahoma -- Even after death, there are those people whose legacy inspires others to make a difference, including Dr. Hal Belknap who is inspiring better health around the world.

Practicing for a purpose larger than the music itself, musicians in Norman are preparing a concert, in honor of Dr. Belknap.

"Dr. Belknap always had classical music playing in his home," said cellist Erin Yeaman. "You would always hear classical music playing."

Dr. Belknap passed away nearly one year ago from complications during surgery, but over 30 years in a medical practice in Norman, his hands healed thousands, and his helping heart loved so many more.

"I came from a background that had plenty of opportunity," said Dr. Brian Yeaman, whom Dr. Belknap mentored. "He opened my eyes to some doors and avenues that life may not otherwise have offered me."

Now, even after his death people around the world will be touched by Dr. Belknap's grace, with the help of the Oklahomans he inspired.

"I just felt so led, and so clear that I wanted, I thought a health clinic in Uganda would be a wonderful way to respect and honor his love of medicine," said Amy Williams, who organized the health clinic.

An international mission was on Dr. Belknap's to do list and in Uganda, the need is great.

"In that part of the world, malaria is such a terrible disease, and has affected many families socially, health wise," said Uganda liaison Ephrance Nuwamanya.

The concert honoring Dr. Belknap at Norman's First Baptist Church will be held on April 18, at 7 p.m.

Donations will be accepted.
